    Carol Moore is an American librarian, writer, children's book critic and a key figure in the field of kids' librarianship.

    For employment at the New York Public Library, Moore left Pratt in 1906.

    She designed cheerful, welcoming reading areas where kids could peruse carefully picked books on various subjects and congregate for regularly scheduled storytelling times. She toured every location in the New York library system to assess the size and caliber of the children's collections and train the staff to interact with youngsters.

    Visitors worldwide flocked to the Library to observe it and then eagerly departed to their community to establish like models.

    In 1941, Moore decided to step down from her job, and Frances Clarke Sayers was selected as her replacement.

    When Moore was approached to comment on the monthly publication The Bookman in 1918, she became among the first commentators on children's literature.
