American musician, singer-songwriter, performer, and studio artist Clyde "Skip" Battin was born on February 18, 1934, in Gallipolis, Ohio.
His early musical journey began in 1956 when he collaborated with Gary Paxton to form the pop duo The Pledges. They later renamed themselves Skip & Flip and achieved some success with songs like "It Was I" and a cover of "Cherry Pie." After a brief hiatus from music, Battin briefly led the folk-rock group The Evergreen Blueshoes in 1967.
