Early Career at Toei Douga

Isao Takahata began his career in animation in 1959 at Toei Douga.

His directorial debut came with the 1968 feature film "Horus, Prince of the Sun" alongside Hayao Miyazaki.

Collaboration with Miyazaki

Takahata's collaboration with Miyazaki continued throughout his career. Together, they directed the 1971-1972 anime series "Lupin III" and numerous other television series based on European children's literature, including "Heidi, Girl of the Alps" (1974), "Anne of Green Gables" (1979), and "3000 Leagues in Search of Mother" (1976).
